A trip to LIMEIRA-SP in 1956

Maria Puerta aka Mariinha on a visit in Limeira-SP in 1956. 

Maria Puerta once presented a radio show on Radio Clube de Marilia in the afternoon where she was known as Mariângela. She eventually got married with Beatriz's brother Alecio. They left Marília for São Paulo where they lived in a house within a 'villa' on rua Fernão Dias, in Pinheiros. Here Maria poses in front of Gruta da Praça a famous band-stand in the main square. It may not look like a bandstand but so it is. It served also as a café during those times.

former Industria de Chapeus Prada building (1907) has become Limeira's Town Hall (Prefeitura).

Gruta Municipal or Gruta da Praça was erected in the 1920s following plan by architect Ettore Monti aping medievel castles to serve as a band-stand at Praça Toledo de Barros. It served as a café between 1946 and 1967. Today it looks like that.
